What does mental health have to do with PCOS?

  1. PCOS is a chronic condition that affects many women that are diagnosed with it
  2. Mental health is definitely affected when a woman is having symptoms of PCOS and they are confused on what is going on with their body
  3. PCOS has been associated with having higher rates of depression and anxiety

What are the signs of someone with PCOS having depression and/or anxiety?

  1. Low mood or the lack of desire to do anything
  2. Poor appetite, Oversleeping, and Isolating oneself
  3. Excessive acknowledgement of worry

How can it be managed?

  1. With young women it is important to let them voice their concerns and fears about what is going on with their body
  2. Parents should be supporting these young women and lean in respectfully and fully to try and help these young women understand what is going on with their body
  3. Lead an active lifestyle! (See the other health pages for some advice on how to lead an active lifestyle)
  4. Meditation and Yoga
  5. Counseling (Such as: Cognitive behavioral therapy, Interpersonal therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, and Support groups)

We want to provide a platform where young women and men can educate themselves about the syndrome: This entials learning about physical, mental, and nutritional health surrounding PCOS, discovering statistics, and connecting to the PCOS community via chat and comment features.
